How to safely change your wax melts

When it's time to switch out your wax melts for a new captivating scent, it's essential to do so with care and safety in mind. We've outlined two recommended methods for changing your wax melts safely to ensure a delightful and hazard-free experience.

Option One - Changing Solidified Wax:

Note: This method is suitable when the wax in the dish has cooled and solidified.

  1. Light the Tealight Briefly: To soften the edges of the hardened wax, light the tealight for about 30-60 seconds. This gentle heat will make it easier to remove the wax.
  2. Blow Out the Tealight: Once you notice the wax softening around the edges, carefully blow out the tealight to prevent the burner from becoming too hot to touch.
  3. Remove the Wax: Using tissue or kitchen roll, slide the now softened wax out of the dish. Dispose of the hardened wax in your bin. An added bonus: it will double up as a natural bin freshener!
  4. Clean the Dish: Wipe the empty dish clean with a dampened tissue or kitchen roll, then ensure it's thoroughly dry. Your burner must always be dry and free of water before adding a new wax melt.
  5. Ready for a New Fragrance: With the dish clean and dry, your burner is now ready for a fresh wax melt and a new fragrant experience.

Option Two - Changing Liquid Wax:

Note: This method is suitable when the wax in the dish is still in a melted state.

  1. Let the Burner Cool: Blow out the tealight and allow the burner to cool down. Be cautious and avoid touching the burner, especially if it has been in use for a while.
  2. Absorb the Melted Wax: Carefully place cotton wool balls or tissue into the well of the burner to soak up the melted wax. Take precautions not to burn yourself, as the wax can be hot.
  3. Dispose of Used Material: Discard the cotton balls or tissue containing the melted wax in your bin. Take care not to let it drip on any other surfaces.
  4. Clean the Dish: Like in option one, wipe the empty dish clean with a dampened tissue or kitchen roll, ensuring it's dry before adding a new wax melt.
  5. Prep for a New Fragrance: With your dish clean and dry, your burner is now ready for a fresh wax melt and a renewed aromatic journey.

Top Tip: Never attempt to scrape hardened wax out with a sharp object, as this can scratch the well of the burner and potentially lead to cracks or damage when the burner is hot.

Whichever method you choose to change your wax melts, remember to prioritize safety and handle candles and hot objects with care. By following these steps, you can effortlessly transition to a new fragrance while maintaining the longevity of your burner. Enjoy your ever-evolving olfactory adventure!
